About the Position

Mattress Villa is seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager – Retail to oversee the daily operations of our retail mattress store in Calgary, Alberta.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising store employees, coordinating sales activities, maintaining inventory, providing excellent customer service, achieving sales objectives, and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the store.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Store Manager will:

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the daily operations of the retail store.
• Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of sales staff and other store employees.
• Assign duties and establish work schedules for employees.
• Hire, train and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve store sales targets.
• Assist customers in selecting mattresses, bedroom furniture and related products.
• Handle customer inquiries, concerns, complaints and service issues professionally.
• Authorize payments, returns, exchanges and other transactions in accordance with company policies.
• Monitor sales performance and prepare sales, inventory and personnel reports.
• Order merchandise and coordinate receiving and replenishment activities.
• Organize and maintain inventory records and ensure adequate stock levels.
• Monitor merchandising, displays, pricing and overall store presentation.
• Coordinate deliveries and work with warehouse and delivery personnel when required.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized retail environment.
• Resolve operational issues, including customer requests, complaints and product or supply shortages.
• Support the owner/management with business planning, staffing and operational decisions.
• Perform other related managerial and supervisory duties as required.

Employment Requirements

Education

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Post-secondary education in business administration, retail management, sales or a related field is an asset.

Experience

• Minimum3 years of retail sales or supervisory experience is required.
• Previous experience in a retail store management or supervisory position is preferred.
• Experience in furniture, mattress, home furnishings or a related retail environment is an asset.

Working Conditions

• This is an on-site retail position.
• The position requires extended periods of standing and walking.
• The employee may be required to handle and move mattresses and other merchandise.
• The position involves working in a fast-paced environment and under pressure during busy sales periods.
• A flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

Wage: $38.00 per hour
Hours: 32 hours per week
Employment: Permanent, full-time
