Title of position – Family caregiver

The caregiver's primary responsibility is to provide personal care, companionship, and mobility assistance to an 82-year-old elderly gentleman who uses a cane and requires support with mobility-related activities. The caregiver will also provide general supervision and support within a household that includes two older children aged 13 and 18. The position requires a compassionate, physically capable individual who can assist the elderly client with daily living activities while maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive home environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Elder Care and Mobility Assistance (Primary Duties)

• Provide personal care and companionship to an 82-year-old elderly client.
• Assist with mobility-related activities, including walking support, transfers, getting in and out of bed, navigating stairs, and other daily movements as required.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other aspects of personal hygiene.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Assist with regular exercise programs, including supervised walks and physical activity.
• Monitor the client's well-being and report changes in physical or emotional condition to family members.
• Provide bedside care when required.
• Collect specimens as directed.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including therapeutic diets if required.
• Shop for groceries and household supplies.
• Accompany the client to appointments and community activities when required. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy home environment.
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.

  • Support children's emotional well-being and social development while parents are away.
  • Reinforce household rules and discipline according to parental instructions.
  • Ability to safely assist an elderly individual with mobility and transfers.
  • Ability to provide hands-on personal care and support with activities of daily living.
  • Ability to lift, support, and assist a client weighing approximately 150 lbs when required as part of mobility assistance duties.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically demanding caregiving tasks throughout the workday.

Child Supervision and Family Support

• Supervise and support two children aged 13 and 18.
• Accompany children to and from school, appointments, and activities as required.
• Support children's emotional well-being and social development while parents are away.
• Reinforce household rules and discipline according to parental instructions.

Physical Requirements

Terms of employment: 30 hours/week, permanent, full-time, mornings, day, evening, with split shits and overtime if needed
Wages: $21 per hour

Education required: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate /Completion of high school
Work experience required: 1 year to less than 2 years of previous caregiving experience
Language required to do the work: English

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
