We are seeking experienced and reliable Carpenters to join our growing team, where carpentry plays a critical role in our construction operations. This role requires strong hands-on carpentry skills, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and precision in measurements. Work is performed at active construction sites, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and delivering high-quality workmanship aligned with project timelines. Position Description

 

Position: Carpenter

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

No of positions: 4

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible

Work Location: Various locations in Thompson and Okanagan Region (BC) as per company’s contracts

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

Wage: $36.60 -39.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Read, interpret, and prepare layouts from blueprints and drawings.
  • Perform necessary calculations related to construction plans.
  • Estimate material requirements and costs and plan the work to be done.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Build foundations, and install floor beams, subflooring, walls, and partitions.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Apply finishes to woodwork in houses and buildings using hand tools and paneling.
  • Supervise, instruct, and collaborate with other construction workers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems with clients and construction teams.
  • Ensure work is planned, sequenced, and executed effectively, considering budgets and timelines.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring proper handling and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure the structural integrity and safety of all work by following established codes and regulations.
  • Review damage reports, prepare or review repair cost estimates, and plan necessary repair work.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in performing additional tasks and responsibilities as directed

  

Qualification & Requirements

 

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of 3-4-year apprenticeship program or at least 2 years of work experience in trade.
  • Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, and comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements and calculations for material requirements and dimensions.
  • Good Communication skills.
