Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience

Job location: various locations across Kamloops, British Columbia

Job Duties:

• Apply protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and/or other related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings

• Wash, scrape, sand, torch and/or smooth interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, varnishing, lacquering, or applying other materials

• Operate compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment and other small power equipment

• Mix and thin paint to obtain desired color and texture

• Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces

• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting

• Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives

• Mix and match colors of paints, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies

• Assemble and erect scaffolding and swing stages
