The BC Chinese Music Association (BCCMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Chinese musical traditions through education, concerts, and cultural programming. We collaborate with local communities, cultural institutions, and international partners to enrich British Columbia’s cultural landscape.
BCCMA is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to support the management and coordination of our cultural initiatives. The role focuses primarily on administrative coordination, program management, and community engagement, with secondary responsibilities in music performance and cultural programming.
Administrative & Program Coordination (Primary – approx. 80–85%)
Prepare and submit grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and funding reports.
Manage day-to-day office operations, including scheduling, correspondence, filing, and record-keeping.
Coordinate and support workshops, rehearsals, concerts, and other events from an administrative perspective.
Draft reports, prepare meeting minutes, and maintain board/committee communications.
Track budgets, donations, and sponsorships; assist in financial reporting.
Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers.
Oversee marketing, communications, and outreach campaigns.
Manage contracts, vendor communications, and other operational tasks.
Assist in planning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
Cultural Program Support & Performance (Secondary – approx. 15–20%)
Assist in organizing music performances and cultural programming.
Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, partners, and cultural organizations to promote BCCMA’s artistic mission.
Knowledge of Chinese music traditions is required for performance and program support.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, music management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of administrative experience, preferably in arts, music, or cultural organizations.
Experience in grant writing, sponsorship, or partnership development.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Excellent English communication skills; Mandarin is a desirable asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other digital tools.
Experience in musical performance or education (piano/percussion) required for the secondary performance duties.
