Responsibilities
Tasks
- Drive, load, handle and transport materials and heavy cargo safely
- Pickup goods and supplies, verify the load for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed
- Drive heavy and freight trucks in team or individually as required
- Follow instruction; locate and read location and maps
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport long routes
- Perform roadside repairs and perform brake adjustments in case of emergency
- Maintain details about cargo, hours worked, distance covered and fuel usage
- Conduct and inspect the brakes, tires, lights and oversight of all vehicle components every time pre and post trip
- Report any accident or vehicle issues encountered while driving to supervisor/dispatcher
