Job description

The Empire Banquet and Conference centre is a unique Wedding, Reception, Birthday and corporate Event Venue in Surrey BC. (Located in the York Centre 128 street and 80th Avenue) 2 Banquet Halls With state-of-the-art sound, lighting and Video, Professional DJ, Decor specialists. The Empire is equipped with a state-of-the-art kitchen, in which our talented chefs can create you a unique menu that suits your taste and flavors. With artistic presentation and rich flavors, our chefs are highly passionate about the cuisines that they offer. Catering for a range of communities and cultures, our in-house chefs can prepare superb menus for all backgrounds including Punjabi and Western menus.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook complete Indian sweets such as variety of barfi, laddu, jalebi, gulab jamun, rasgulla, ras malai, gajrela, and other menu items.
  • Cook speciality snack foods such as variety of samosas, pakoras and other appetizer menu items
  • Stock inventory required to make sweets appropriately
  • Follow and execute chef direction for preparing sweet dishes
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation/hygiene regulations
  • Clean up station and store leftover food in appropriate conditions
  • Manage and train staff such as food servers, dishwashers and kitchen helpers. Lead the kitchen helpers according to your own needs to avoid long wait times
  • Must be able Work without supervision and oversee all kitchen operations to ensure smooth service
  • Observe and maintain the presentation standards of food up to company standards
  • Keep a track of the food stocks and other supplies, and maintain inventory according to avoid any disruptions in service
  • Ensure that food safety procedures are followed as instructed in company’s Standard Operating
  • Procedures
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen area
  • Clean the Kitchen area and all equipment after the service is over

Employment requirements

• Completion of secondary school will be an asset

• 3-5 years of commercial cooking experience with at least one year out of that as a sweet maker is required

• Minimal communication skills in English are sufficient to perform the job duties safely

• Ability to perform under fast paced environment

• Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings

• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
