Salary: $34.75 per hour  

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the transportation and movement of cargo, supplies, and materials to ensure efficient delivery across Canada and the US.
  • Develop and implement shipping and receiving schedules, ensuring seamless coordination with production timelines, operational requirements, and cross-border logistics.
  • Monitor shipments to guarantee cargo is shipped, tracked, and delivered on time while proactively addressing delays, disruptions, or route changes.
  • Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to arrange transportation, optimize routes, manage freight capacities, and negotiate competitive shipping rates.
  • Prepare, process, and manage all required customs documentation for cross-border shipments, ensuring compliance with Canadian and US trade regulations.
  • Track and manage inventory levels, coordinating with warehouse and procurement teams to prevent supply shortages or surpluses and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure proper loading, unloading, handling, and secure storage of cargo.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all logistics transactions, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, shipping invoices, and delivery confirmations.
  • Address and resolve logistics challenges such as shipment delays, damaged goods, freight misrouting, or customs clearance issues efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Ensure all logistics processes comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including cross-border safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Analyze current logistics operations to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to improve routing, reduce costs, and leverage technology for operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to management on shipment statuses, key performance indicators, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technology innovations in cargo transportation and logistics to maintain a competitive edge.

 

Requirements

  • Education in in Business, Supply Chain Management or relevant field, or extensive experience as a dispatcher, production clerk, or scheduling clerk.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage complex logistics operations.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, including cross-border logistics and customs compliance.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address and resolve logistics challenges efficiently.
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  • Familiarity with safety, environmental, and industry standards in logistics operations.
