Position: Long Haul Truck Driver (NOC: 73300)

Vacancies: 6

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary:  $27.00 to $32.00/hourly, depending on experience, minimum 40 hours per week with potential for 60 hours weekly

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime

Work Location: Various locations

Education: Not required

Credentials: Driver's License (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Experience: Experience an asset

Languages: English required, Serbian an asset

Job Duties:

  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Loading and unloading of goods
  • Plan travel schedules and routes
  • Use atlases and other trip planning aids
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatcher
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or single
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns
  • Mountain driving expertise
  • Professionalism in customer service
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

 

Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer, highway, Dump Type of Travel: Long-haul, Provincial/territorial, International Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports.

Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Transportation/Travel Information: Must be able to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods.

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test

Essential Skills: Document use, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Continuous learning
