Company Overview:

Hampton House Society operates a full-day, licensed child-care center for children aged 12 months to 12 years. This role involves working with young children in a nurturing, creative, and dynamic environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Observe and assess children's development to create individualized learning plans.

Collaborate with co-workers on housekeeping and meal preparation tasks.

Design and implement child-care programs fostering physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a safe, clean environment.

Engage children in activities such as storytelling, songs, crafts, and exploring local points of interest.

Supervise and support staff, trainees, or volunteers in daily activities.

Communicate children’s progress and overall development to parents or guardians.

Assist in documenting and maintaining accurate records of children’s activities and progress.

Encourage creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.

Guide children in developing proper habits for eating, dressing, and toileting.

Prepare snacks and organize rooms for meals and rest periods.

Identify and report signs of potential learning or behavioral challenges.

Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and address any concerns.

Establish positive relationships with co-workers and community service providers.

Plan and maintain a secure, health-conscious environment for children.

Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and behavioral guidelines.

Oversee and coordinate activities of other educators and assistants.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or college diploma.

Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) license.

First Aid certification.

Criminal record check.

Ability to work independently with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience an asset.

Montessori-trained educators holding AMI or AMS diplomas.

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills:

Assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to his needs; Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties; Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Maintain daycare equipment; Storytelling; Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents; Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest; Order supplies and equipment; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

 

Additional Skills:

Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors; Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Knowledge of licensing regulations; Establish guidelines for behaviour; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children; Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children; Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants

 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours per week) with a 30-minute lunch break.
