Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $30.00 per hour

 

Vacation:                     4% in lieu of paid vacation days

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Constructing, installing and repairing formwork structures and fixtures to complete the foundation of a new construction project, such as concrete footings, columns, walls, downturn beams, up-stand walls, slabs on grade, suspended slabs and stairs;
  • Stripping of all cast-in-place concrete and placing of vertical and horizontal concrete;
  • Likewise, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate material requirements;
  • Preparing lay-outs in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools;
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling and joining materials;
  • Fitting and installing trim items, such as doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
  • May work under supervision of carpenters at a senior level.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Completion of secondary school;
  • 12 months of experience in carpentry or relevant experience
  • Experience with the use of the PERI OR DOKA FORMWORK SYSTEM, namely: the Skydeck System, Multiprop Shores, Trio Panel System and the Maximo System OR Xlight, Frami, Framax, Doka Deck
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Must possess the following skills: manual dexterity and the ability to lift and move heavy objects, the ability to understand verbal and written instructions, ability to organize assigned tasks, and the ability to envision all steps in assigned tasks.
