HIRING – Early Childhood Educator

 

NORTH SHORE CHILD CARE CENTRE (NSCC) is looking for an energetic and knowledgeable Early Childhood Educator (ECE) for our centre in beautiful North Vancouver, BC!

 

Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

Employment type: Permanent / Full-time

Location: 4085 Dollar Road, North Vancouver, BC V7G 1A5

 

Compensation: $22.00 ~ $26.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Working hours: 37.50 hours per week

Benefits:

  • After 3 months of employment (probation) employees are eligible to join our benefit plan if they maintain 20 hours or more a week.  EHC, Dental, ADD, Life. 
  • Employees also will qualify for an additional week of vacation after 3 months probation (6%). 
  • 5 sick days a year.

 

Responsibilities:

  • supervision and monitoring of the children in the various activities to ensure their safety and well being as specified in the centre's supervision and guidance policies;
  • planning, or assistance in, the planning of daily indoor and outdoor activities for the children;
  • engaging the children in the various activities planned, encouraging them to explore and play as they begin their understanding of socially acceptable behaviour, creating an environment of learning and fun for the children, and developing and encouraging their cognitive, language, social, fine/gross-motor, and emotional development.
  • conducting outdoor activities to ensure that the children are outdoors for a minimum of 45 minutes a day, regardless of weather conditions, unless otherwise directed by the Employer's authorised representative, Natalie Whyte or other person authorised by Natalie Whyte;
  • liaison between the parents of the children and the management to keep management and staff apprised of all matters and issues raised by the parents;
  • administrative duties including collection and dissemination of forms, cheques and other documents from and to parents and children for processing by management;
  • guiding and facilitating positive behaviour and problem solving and recording incidences with and amongst children or with parents that occur daily, in the record book set aside for this purpose;
  • maintaining and ensuring the personal hygiene (including toilet hygiene) and cleanliness of the children in a safe and appropriate manner;
  • acting in a professional manner that will reflect positively the philosophy, reputation and image of the child care centre;
  • co-operating with members of the staff and management and be a team player;
  • complying strictly with all licensing requirements and regulations;
  • reporting all concerns to the management without delay
  • cleaning duties which shall include but are not limited to:
    1. sweeping classroom floors on a daily basis to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times;
    2. mopping classroom floors on a daily basis and when required;
    3. clearing garbage in the classroom at the end of each day;
    4. cleaning the bathrooms and toilets, including bleaching when soiled or necessary;
    5. cleaning tables with bleach before and after each meal;
    6. washing dishes, art supplies, toys, learning materials and other items used daily by the children;
    7. keeping the shelves and other areas used by the children and staff in the classroom free of dust;
    8. keeping the walls free of paint and other marks;
    9. bleaching toys and other items used by the children once a week or when necessary;
    10. ensuring all children in care are sent home clean and when appropriate, with a clean diaper or pull-up.

 

Requirements:

  • Language: English
  • Completion of post-secondary level of program in early childhood education is required.
  • Early Childhood Education Certificate in British Columbia is required.
  • Experience is an asset.
  • First Aid Certification
  • Criminal Record Check
