Job description


Location:  Suite 201, 109 Atlantic Avenue, Toronto, ON M6K 1X4 (on site)

Wage: $34.07 per hour ($34.07 * 34h/week * 52 weeks = $60,235.76 per year)

Full-time / 34 hours per week

WeFX is a premiere VFX studio that was established in 2020 in Toronto, Canada. We have experienced exponential growth since our inception. Our team consists of over 150 skilled professionals, who are passionate and committed to providing our clients with the highest quality visual effect and to exceeding our clients’ expectations. We are looking for a finance technician to join our team to help us provide the best possible service to our clients.

Duties:

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Provide data and analysis for project budgeting and tracking
  • Track and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Issue and prepare invoices.
  • Track and monitor accounts payable.
  • Review of individual contractor invoices for accuracy and confirm the hours in Shot Grid
  • Resolve account payable and receivable issues or queries.
  • Assist with the review of expenses, payroll remittances and filings, as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information is accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Assist Director of Finance and provide information for cash flow analysis and projections.
  • Calculate fixed asset depreciation expense and accruals.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare appropriate entries.
  • Assist and provide information in the budgeting process.
  • Completion of month end closes processes
  • Update and track Information Technology upcoming payments and license renewals.
  • File HST returns on monthly basis.
  • As needed, assist with other accounting projects such as OCASE and SRED and Audit of Financial Statements
  • Preparation of active projects’ cost analysis/vendor declarations and update them on monthly basis until completion.Preparation of monthly P&L analysis and communicate the findings and significant areas of attention to Director of Finance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year diploma in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk
  • 1 year experience in film/visual effects industry
  • Experience with budget planning and management of 2 million dollars and audits
  • Experience with grant funding and reimbursement submissions
  • Experience with OCASE and SR&ED
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail with the strong organizational skills.
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office/Excel and Accounting software packages including QuickBooks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
